We share your details with a school or teacher only when you ask us to help you book.
You stay in control

01Who we are
Learn Spanish in Barcelona ("we", "us", "our") is a website run by a team of Spanish course agents. We help students compare and book Spanish courses, accommodation and native teachers in Barcelona, and we publish free learning resources and guides.
We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. If you have any questions about it, contact us at market@learnspanishinbarcelona.com or through our contact page.
02What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: your name, email address, the topic of your message, your Spanish level (optional) and your message.
- Newsletter sign up: your name and email address.
- Emails you send us: your email address and anything you include in your message.
- Booking help: if you ask us to help book a course, accommodation or teacher, details such as your dates, level, goals, budget and any preferences you share with us.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: like every website, our hosting servers receive your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages you visit. This is used to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see the cookies section below.
Please do not send us sensitive information (for example about health, religion or financial details) through our forms. We do not need it to help you.
03How we use your information
- To reply to your messages and answer your questions.
- To give you advice on Spanish courses, accommodation and teachers that suit you.
- To help you book with a school, accommodation provider or teacher when you ask us to.
- To send our weekly newsletter, if you have subscribed.
- To keep the website working, secure and protected against spam and misuse.
- To understand how the website is used so we can improve it.
04Our legal basis
Where data protection laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) apply, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent: for our newsletter and when you tick the consent box on our contact form. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Steps before a contract: when you ask us to help you choose or book a course, accommodation or teacher.
- Legitimate interests: to run, secure and improve our website and to reply to general enquiries, in ways you would reasonably expect.
- Legal obligations: where we need to keep certain records by law.
05Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your personal information. We only share it in these situations:
- Schools, accommodation providers and teachers: when you ask us to help you book, we pass the details needed for your booking to the school (for example Spanish Express or another partner school), accommodation provider or teacher you have chosen. They then handle your data under their own privacy policies.
- Service providers that help us run the site:
- Hostinger, which hosts our website and email.
- FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), which delivers messages from our contact and newsletter forms to our inbox.
- Google, which provides the fonts used on this site and, through Google Site Kit, services such as Search Console and Google Analytics.
- Legal reasons: if we are required to by law, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.
06Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We keep their use to a minimum:
- Essential cookies: used by WordPress and our hosting to make the site work and keep it secure. These do not identify you for marketing.
- Performance and caching: our caching system (LiteSpeed Cache) helps pages load quickly.
- Analytics: where Google Analytics is switched on, it uses cookies to tell us how many people visit and which pages are popular. This information is grouped together and does not tell us who you are.
- Google Fonts: to show our fonts, your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Some parts of the site may not work properly if you block essential cookies. You can learn more at allaboutcookies.org.
07International transfers
Some of the service providers we use, such as Google and FormSubmit, may process data outside the UK and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards these providers put in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your information.
08How long we keep it
- Messages and enquiries: up to 2 years after our last contact with you, so we can follow up on your questions or booking.
- Booking details: for as long as needed to complete your booking, and afterwards only as long as required for legal or accounting reasons.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
When we no longer need your information, we delete it securely.
09Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your information.
- Object to, or ask us to limit, how we use your information.
- Ask us to send your information to you or another organisation in a common format.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from our newsletter.
To use any of these rights, email us at market@learnspanishinbarcelona.com. We will reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to a data protection authority. In Spain this is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), and in the UK it is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). We would appreciate the chance to sort out your concern first, so please contact us before you complain.
10Keeping your data safe
Our website uses a secure HTTPS connection, and we only give access to your information to the people who need it to help you. No website can be completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
11Children
Some programs we write about, such as summer camps, are for young learners. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us on your behalf. If you believe a child has sent us personal information without a parent's permission, contact us at market@learnspanishinbarcelona.com and we will delete it.
12Links to other websites
Our pages link to the websites of language schools and other organisations. We are not responsible for how those websites handle your data, so please read their own privacy policies before giving them any personal information.
13Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new features or services. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. Please check back now and then.
